چکیده

Although routinely utilized in literature, orthogonal waveforms may lose orthogonality distributed multi-input multi-output (MIMO) radar with spatially separated transmit (TX) and receive (RX) antennas, as the experience distinct delays Doppler frequency offsets unique to different TX-RX propagation paths. In such cases, output of each waveform-specific matched filter (MF), employed unravel at RXs, contains both an auto term multiple cross terms, i.e., filtered response desired and, respectively, undesired waveforms. We consider impact non-orthogonal their terms on target detection or without timing, frequency, phase errors. To this end, we present a general signal model for MIMO radar, examine using existing coherent/non-coherent detectors two new detectors, including hybrid detector that requires coherence locally but not across provide statistical analysis leading closed-form expressions false alarm probabilities all detectors. Our results show can behave like foes friends, if they add destructively constructively, depending delay, offsets. Regarding sync errors, errors affect only coherent degrade non-coherent detector, while are impacted by timing which result loss signal-to-noise ratio (SNR).

Radar Signal Detection in K-distributed Clutter by Pade Approximation

In this paper, two suboptimum detectors are proposed for coherent radar signal detection in K-distributed clutter. Assuming certain values for several initial moments of clutter amplitude, the characteristic function of the clutter amplitude is approximated by a limited series. Using the Pade approximation, it is then converted to a rational fraction. Thus, the pdf of the clutter amplitude is o...

Design of Optimal Waveforms in MIMO Radar Systems Based on the Generalized Approach to Signal Processing

We consider the problem of waveform design for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar systems employing the generalized detector that is constructed based on the generalized approach to signal processing in noise. We investigate the case of an extended target and without limiting ourselves to orthogonal waveforms. Instead, we develop a procedure to design the optimal waveform that maximize...

On Receive Filter Design for Coherent MIMO Radar with Non-Ideal Waveforms

In this paper, we consider the problem of coherent multiple-input multiple-output radar receive filter design. If the transmitted radar waveforms do not have the desired ideal autoand cross-correlation properties, the signal at the output of a matched filter (MF) can suffer severe interference due to targets in neighboring range-Doppler bins. Existing receive filter design approaches, e.g., ins...

Signal Processing Algorithm of Space Time Coded Waveforms for Coherent MIMO Radar : Overview on Target Localization

Space-time coding (STC) has been shown to play a key role in the design of MIMO radars with closely spaced antennas. Multiple-input–multiple-output (MIMO) radar is emerging technology for target detection, parameter identification, and target classification due to diversity of waveform and perspective. First, it turns out that a joint waveform optimization problem can be decoupled into a set of...
